3rd International Day of Yoga was held today at Manipur University in the Centenary Auditorium Campus, The event was organized by Manipur University in Collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Canchipur. The Event was attended by Shri Letpao Haokip, Hon'ble Minister, Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt of Manipur as Chief Guest, Prof Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University as President, Prof Shree Chandra Jha, as yoga guru, Prof Kh Tomba Singh, Dean, Studen welfare and Shri Sahib Singh as Guest of Honour.

The event was organised as a mass yoga session on the theme Yoga for Holistic Health: Physical, mental well-being and balance between body & Mind. The purpose of the event is to go together towards tomorrow. The event was attainded by university officials, faculty members, staffs, students and officials from top to bottom. Besides students from other institutions inspired by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan participated in the yoga show. Almost 2000 participant including 200 faculty members participated at a time to observe Yoga International Day.

In his Chief Guest speech Hon'ble Minister Shri Letpao Haokip expresses his excitement in joining the mega yoga session and was thankfull to the organizer for giving him the opportunity to experience a new type of exercise. Being a footballer by now he was unaware of yoga. Prof Adya Prasad Pandey wishes the mass on the auspicious occasion and emphasises the participant about the connection of wellbeing and Yoga to have balanced in mentally, physically and spritually.

The chief speaker, Prof Shree Chandra Jha, yoga guru expressed that by practicing yoga ashanas and pranayama you can create good thought to influence the mind that will affect the body, the surroundings in which being lives and environment or universe. Prof Tomba Singh wishes the participant a healthy life and encourages practising yoga regularly. Shri Sahib Singh thank Manipur University for the cooperation and support and express the hope that such events will continue to be conducted to inspire youths to live a healthy life.

The event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr Shitaljit Singh NSS Coordinator Manipur University.
